Eddie McDougall Wines released its first vintage in 2007 from grapes grown in Bannockburn, Victoria. Since then, Eddie McDougall and his winemaking team have steadily expanded their portfolio of grape growers allowing them access to some of Australia’s best regions such as Margaret River and the King Valley. With a unique focus of producing both classical and alternative wine styles, the winemaking team is given every opportunity to be creative whilst striving to produce international award-winning wines.
Eddie McDougall Wines are regularly awarded medals and achieve ratings of 90+ points from highly acclaimed critics. In 2018 the winery was placed into the category of Excellence by The Real Review.

Eddie is the driving force behind Eddie McDougall Wines, taking a 1200 bottle production to become one of Australia’s leading boutique winemakers. Eddie’s international winemaking experience and industry reputation has led the way in reshaping the perception of Australian wines globally.
Born in Hong Kong to an Australian father and Chinese mother, Eddie grew up with a diverse set of cultural experiences and taste buds.
Eddie holds a Bachelor of International Business from Griffith University, Australia and a Post Graduate Diploma of Wine Technology and Viticulture from the University of Melbourne. In 2013, Eddie was one of only 12 elite wine professionals selected for the Len Evans Tutorial, regarded as the world’s most esteemed wine judging scholarship.
With a winemaking CV that has been described as “Legendary” by credible industry sources, Eddie has built his winemaking experiences under some of the world’s most iconic producers. Eddie has worked with the likes of Vietti, Mas de Daumas Gassac, Giant Steps, Deep Woods Estate, O'Leary Walker, Clyde Park, Wood Park, and Silver Heights. In addition, Eddie’s innovative approach to winemaking led him to become the winemaker for Hong Kong’s first urban winery.
Today, Eddie is an award-winning winemaker, chairman of the Asian Wine Review, columnist for many international publications, wine judge, a TV personality and founder of The Flying Winemaker, one of Asia-Pacific’s most dynamic wine brands.
When not spending time hanging out with his lovely wife, Freddie and sons, Hugo and Benji, Eddie is madly obsessed with rugby union and spreading the gospel of Rosé Revolution.
Kyle is a born and bred Saffa who discovered the wonderful world of wine as a holiday job at the tender age of 16. Since then there is nothing else that Kyle has ever done besides getting every aspect of himself divulged in wine (literally from head to toe)!
Kyle began his journey at the prestigious and award-winning Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch, South Africa, where he began educating visitors in the tasting room. Over the course of 8 years in the wine industry of South Africa and 4 years with Eddie McDougall Wines, Kyle has built up his experience to try cover every nook and cranny the wine world throws at him.
His primary focus has been involved in wine production, however, he has also been seen in and around many other aspects of the job such working vines, to marketing and wine education as well as representing Eddie McDougall Wines at trade events. He also plays an instrumental role in making sure Eddie McDougall Wines get across the oceans and to our respective markets.
On a winemaking front, besides completing vintages in South Africa & Australia, he has also been out and about, getting in the thick of things and learning about other winemaking cultures and techniques in New Zealand, Portugal, USA & China.
Basically, Kyle is our resident Wine Dude!
